Introduction People-Centered NGO in Liberia

SHAPE Liberia is a not-for-profit NGO promoting land rights, human rights, health, and economic empowerment in under-served communities.

Let’s work together to build a sustainable, peaceful, and empowered Liberia. No matter your location. Ee bring the mission to you.

Our Achievements/Profile

SHAPE–Liberia In 2019,  implemented a six-month project, sponsored by the UNDP/OHCR, titled “Rule of Law, Security the Liberian People,” which focused on sensitizing 18 rural communities in Nimba on the approved Land Rights Law in Liberia. SHAPE-Liberia, under this project conducted awareness and training on Women’s Land Rights as well as specialized training in Conflict Mediation for informal Justice Actors in Gbehlay-Geh, Sanniquellie-Mah, and Saclepea-Mah Districts in Nimba County.  Documented 143 land dispute cases, and successfully resolved 65 through facilitated mediation thus promoting peaceful co-existence among community members.

In 2023-2024, the Organization also implemented a two (2) year Community Customary Land Rights Formalization Project in ten (10) communities in Nimba County sponsored by USAID/ECODIT.  With USAID’s support, and the close collaboration with the Liberia Land Authority, SHAPE successfully implemented the two-year project, leading to four out of the ten communities obtaining Statutory Land Deeds for their respective community.

Besides, SHAPE-Liberia is empowered by experienced and knowledgeable key staff in the following areas:

Land Rights Education

We raise awareness about legal land ownership and use, helping communities understand their rights under the Liberia Land Rights Act and make informed decisions about their property.

ADR Methodology Capacity Building

We train local leaders and stakeholders in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) techniques to resolve land and property conflicts peacefully, without going to court.

Land/Property Related Conflict Resolution Through The Use Of ADR Mechanism

We actively mediate and resolve disputes using culturally relevant and community-driven approaches, promoting harmony and long-term solutions.
